Final Fantasy producer Naoki Yoshida said that Square Enix plans to release the game simultaneously on Xbox in the future.

In an interview with 4Gamer for Fantasian Neo Dimension, Yoshida, known to fans as 'Yoshi-P', said that Square plans to launch games on all platforms simultaneously “more and more.”

“Of course we want you to play it often on other platforms too,” he said. “This time we will also release the Xbox Series X|S version simultaneously.

“In the future, more and more Square Enix titles will be released simultaneously on every platform, but as this approaches the first release, we want Xbox users to play them too.”

Yoshida said earlier this year that he wants to release Final Fantasy 16 on the Xbox platform.

During an interview with Video Games, Yoshida was asked if he could share any news about the game's possible release on Microsoft's console.

“Of course we announced the PC version of the game, so if we look towards the Xbox version, we really want to release it on Xbox,” he said. “But when it comes to specifics like when the game will be available and such, we can't provide any information.

“But of course, I would like to say that there are no expectations at all, and we are eager to achieve that,” he added. “So the players must not give up on their hopes.”

Final Fantasy 16 was one of several recent PS5 exclusives that failed to meet Square Enix's sales expectations, leading the publisher to announce plans to “shift to a multiplatform strategy.”
