Dragon Age: The Veilguard has debuted at the top of Steam's Top Sellers chart.

The latest game from EA and BioWare has entered Steam's Top Sellers list, displacing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 from the top spot.

Chart data on SteamDB shows that the game released on Thursday reached a peak of 70,414 concurrent players in its first 24 hours of sales.

This made it the most popular Steam launch for any game in BioWare history, the previous being Mass Effect Legendary Edition (which had its highest ever peak of 59,817 players).

This is also one of the highest peaks for any single-player EA game, beating the Star Wars Jedi games, but so far below Need for Speed Heat (which had a maximum peak of 86,196) and The Sims 4 (which had a maximum peak of 86,196 ) peak 96,328).

VGC's Dragon Age: The Veilguard review said that the game “instantly captures the magic of BioWare, but as often as the game does this, it also disappoints with repetitive gameplay riddled with glitches.”

“In the modern action RPG space, Dragon Age: The Veilguard feels just fine,” we wrote.

“It's a game that's never too bad, but also just momentarily amazing. We really enjoyed the cast, but most of the things you're asked to do with the cast turned out to be repetitive.

“There are interesting moments, and the longer main missions show potential, but overall we feel BioWare hasn't evolved with the times.”
