I've found myself with some rare free time over the last few weeks, so I booted up my PS4 and bought it again Resident Evil 5which was on sale for just $4.99 – a steal. Halfway through my replay, I started to really appreciate the best parts Resident Evil 5like the debonair supervillain dictator, the rich lore, and the surprisingly enduring imagery.
I wanted to relive my youth a little and revisit it Resident Evil 5 to see if I could enjoy it as an adult as much as I did back then. I hadn't picked up the game in over a decade, so I couldn't remember much of the plot, which was fine with me. I felt like I was playing it for the first time again. I sacrificed a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but I finally completed the game… and that's it Still one of the best titles of the entire series.
Albert Wesker is the MVP of Resident Evil 5
Even if it doesn't appear in all of them Resident Evil game, and is completely absent from the story in more recent entries such as D7 AND Villagehe is still the main antagonist of the entire series. Wesker is everything you want in a villain. He's a biochemically engineered mad scientist and kung fu fighter – what more could you ask for?
He has an abundance of witty banter, he's charming, he's silly, and he makes you love him and love fighting him, even when you really shouldn't. Every time Wesker appears on screen, you know you're in for a treat from a dashing, dastardly dictator whose scene-stealing charisma can't be ignored.
The videos, no more chatter
Perhaps one of my most important teachings Resident Evil 5 the replay reminded us that for a 2009 action horror game, the graphics are exceptionally good, which only makes the cutscenes more immersive and cinematic. You can get a taste of the Lost in Nightmares DLC after Chris tells Sheva what happened to Jill, which triggers a flashback sequence that sees Chris and Jill, as partners, corner Wesker in Spencer's Mansion. The fight sequence is thrilling, just as it is when you meet Jill and Wesker again in chapter 5-3. Then there are Irving and Excella's boss fights, both of which have their own cutscenes that play out like scenes from a blockbuster movie.
Resident Evil 5 it's not a perfect game. There are some infuriating controls and glitchy bosses, but the cutscenes are so smooth and immersive that the gameplay's few gripes can be overlooked. Not to keep raving about Wesker, but his cutscenes on the plane at the end are incredibly satisfying. Resident Evil 5 manages to keep me constantly involved in the story by dividing game segments with fragments of dialogue and confrontation that make me feel like I'm sitting in a cinema,
It's one of the best co-op games of any genre
Not only is it Resident Evil 5 one of the best co-op games in the series, it's also one of the best co-op games, period. Especially in the horror genre, if you're one of those people, like me, who still thinks Resident Evil 5 a horror game as much as an action game (I know, blasphemy). When playing solo, as I did this time, Sheva's AI can be a bit finicky, and that's what I see a lot of community members complaining about. And this is valid.
Even though I don't remember every second of the game Resident Evil 5 with my friend, however, I remember it being endlessly entertaining, there's no doubt about it. That's not to say I didn't enjoy playing it myself, but it was made to enjoy with someone else. There are many segments that would be much easier with a competent partner rather than relying on AI to read your mind. I usually end up yelling, “Sheva, move!” at the top of my lungs.
Resident Evil 5 it becomes less challenging as a co-op experience, I get, but there's no end to the fun of solving puzzles together or wiping that smirk off Wesker's face in the final boss fight. Sorry, did I mention Wesker again? Let's move on.
It's rewarding to play Resident Evil 5 with someone else's expertise, as you will share resources and work together to progress. Even playing solo, I found so much satisfaction in taking down the chainsaw Majini and blasting him into oblivion.
Chris Redfield hits a rock
There aren't many moments to roll your eyes Resident Evil 5but Chris Redfield punching a boulder is definitely one of them. As I understand it, the outrageous moment has become such a big deal that there's even a page about it Resident Evil wiki called Boulderfield. And here I thought Weskerfield was a push. There has been a lot of talk about this over the years Resident Evil 5sometimes, like how Wesker manages to take multiple bullets in the back and still kick, but Chris Redfield punching a boulder takes the cake.
That's not to say I find the scene off-putting. In fact, I think it's absolutely hilarious. Resident Evil 5 It doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's exactly why I love it. As soon as you arrive D7 AND Villagethe franchise starts to lose its charm a bit as it changes tone. But we will always have Chris hooking a boulder repeatedly seared into our memories, no matter how much we try to forget it. Maybe I'm a fool for finding it so funny, but I wouldn't change that scene for the world.
Extremely significant Resident Evil lore to sift through
There is Very that happens inside Resident Evil 5. This is where Chris' story really begins to develop, Wesker is promoted to the lead role (I said Wesker again, right?), and Jill Valentine's story comes full circle. Since Jill is such a beloved character, her time as a brainwashed killing machine remains significant to the Resident Evil tradition, especially since it will likely tie into a future encounter with you-know-who if he also returns.
I also learned a lot about Uroboros from Resident Evil 5as I'm sure many of us have done, as it's sometimes confusing to keep track of all the viruses in the universe. Uroboros helps create the Mold, which we see in D7 AND Village, and allows us to understand some of its properties as a regenerative and infectious fungus. All the Uroboros stuff comes into play again Resident Evil Revelations 2 as well as when Claire and Moira come face to face with Alex Wesker (Alexnot Alberto). I just think Resident Evil 5 it's a vital stepping stone to the rest of Resident Evil lore, and you're really missing out if you haven't played it.
I'll try again Resident Evil 5 again soon, I'm sure, as it has quickly become one of my favourites. Even if you didn't like it all those years ago, I implore you to give it another try and appreciate its craftsmanship and importance to the Resident Evil tradition. Oh, and try it with a friend, especially if you're used to playing alone. It might just surprise you.
