Agatha All Along recently delivered a powerful two-episode finale, and it was everything we expected. Agatha had a difficult journey from the start, but she created her Coven, made up of powerful witches. However, her Coven gradually turns into a pile of corpses, thanks to all the deadly ordeals that cost the witches their lives one after the other. The most recent sacrifice comes from Lilia, who heroically sacrificed herself to kill Salem Seven. The deaths of these witches affected everyone, but now it's time to focus on Agatha's powerful ending and what it really means.
The brilliant start to the finale with Rio's conversation with Agatha
The episode picks up after Alice's death (episode 5), as Rio, who we now know as Lady Death, tells Alice that it is time to leave. Rio tells the witch that she has fulfilled her purpose: she is a protection witch and she died protecting someone. As expected, Alice accepts and walks through the door with Death.
As Jen and Billy arrive at the door of the final trial, Agatha confronts Rio, who has just taken Alice away. Rio makes it clear that she considers Billy an “abomination” and that Agatha was wrong to distract Rio from the boy. Rio then tells Agatha that she is on the road to the Trials with “another woman's son”. Interestingly, Rio also confirms that Agatha lied about her son's death from the start. But Agatha says she's comfortable with lies but not the “terrible” truth.
Rio also says that Billy's quest to find Tommy, his brother, at the end of the road is a meaningless endeavor, to which Agatha also agrees. Billy took someone else's body to reincarnate himself, and even though Tommy is there at the end of the road, Rio can't let Tommy do the same.
Agatha offers to help Rio save herself
Rio clearly wants to take Billy, but why doesn't she? Well, Rio knows that if Billy dies, he'll just be reincarnated. He must therefore come to Rio of his own free will, and it is then that Agatha agrees to help him. She assures Rio that she will convince Billy to let go, but only if Death spares him. Rio then tears a hole in reality, and Agatha uses it to go to where Jen and Billy are waiting for her.
The trio now heads towards their final test, but guess what? This is exactly where they started their journey. In fact, their shoes are still on the floor. Frustrated and anxious about having to restart their journey, Billy decides to put on his shoes. He left his shows out of respect for the road, which he no longer does. As soon as he does this, Billy, Jen and Agatha are teleported into a room. The room is full of Grow lights, which go off one by one, indicating that it's some sort of timer.
Jen gets what she wants
During their time in the room, everyone learns that it was Agatha who stopped Jen from using her magic. Apparently, Agatha did spells for money in 1920, and she had to cast a binding spell on Jen because of a client she worked for. But at that moment, she didn't even know who she was casting this spell on. Anyway, having this knowledge, Jen uses Agatha's hair to cast an unbinding spell and get her magic back. Jen now disappears from the room – she got what she wanted on the road, so she finished the trial.
Agatha's heart to heart with Billy
Agatha now knows that she can get out of here having obtained what she desires most: power. Billy has powers, so she asks the boy to give him some juice. However, Billy knows he will be alone in the room if he gives Agatha what she wants. At this point, Agatha reveals that what Billy expects from the trial is false: he won't find Tommy at the end of the path, and even if he is, Tommy will have to steal someone else's body to reincarnate.
Agatha now asks Billy to close his eyes and remember his last moments with Tommy in Westview. She asks Billy to block out the voice of his mother's world collapsing to focus on his brother's breathing. Agatha then asks Billy to find Tommy somewhere to go. Billy then sees a boy who is thrown into a river as a prank but drowns.
Agatha's fight against death
Now Agatha is left alone in the room, and when the last light goes out, Agatha takes out the locket, which has Nicholas Scratch's hair on it. She remembers her son and says to herself: “From death, life”. She places her son's hair in the earth and a flower blooms. Then, out of nowhere, dirt and rocks begin to fall from the ground. Agatha manages to get out of the room just in time, but she sees Rio sitting on top of her house in Westview.
Agatha says she brought the child out, but that wasn't the problem, was it? To save herself from death, Agatha had to convince Billy to willingly offer himself to Rio. Now Rio attacks Agatha so she can take her place. But then Billy Maximoff appears in his Wiccan form. He offers some of his powers to Agatha so she can fight Rio for a little while.
However, no one can defeat death, so after seeing Agatha on the verge of death, Billy offers himself and, surprisingly, Agatha has no problem with this; in fact, she seems happy. However, before Agatha leaves, Billy asks her if this is how her son died. He suggested that Agatha could have gifted power to her son. But this touches something in Agatha, and she turns and kisses Rio, which leads to his death. Billy, broken after Agatha's death, returns to his town. Billy thinks about what happened and that's when he sees someone standing behind him.
Agatha's past revealed
In 1750, we see that Agathe was pregnant with her son Nicolas. However, she was about to lose it because Rio was standing in front to take it. Agatha asks Rio to spare her boy, but Death says she can only buy him a little time. Nicky then comes out in good health, and Agatha spends great years with her son. She even tries to teach him witchcraft, but deep down, Agatha knows that one day, Rio will come for him. This day finally arrives and Death takes Agatha's son from her.
Agatha's new thirst for power
After losing her son, Agatha becomes power hungry. She lures the other witches into believing she can open the door to Witches Road. When the door does not open, other witches often attack Agatha, and she absorbs their powers instead. She does this for countless years and kills several witches like this. However, something different is happening with the latest coven. Just like before, the door wasn't supposed to open and it was supposed to absorb the powers of all the other witches. However, the door opened and that's when we realized that it was Billy who unknowingly created that door.
Returning to the present, we see Agatha's ghost telling Billy this story. Billy wonders if he opened the door, then maybe he's the one responsible for everyone's deaths. But Agatha says that, in a way, he saved lives. This is because Agatha would have killed everyone if this door hadn't appeared.
Billy and Agatha's new quest
Billy, still feeling guilty, tries to recite a spell to send Agatha to the afterlife. He doesn't want Agatha to wander the world like a ghost for eternity. But Agatha doesn't want to leave; she is not ready to face her son. At this point, Billy completely understands how Agatha feels, so he stops. At the same time, Agatha has found her heart again, so she agrees to accompany Billy in his quest to find Tommy.
