Xbox has started rolling out a new AI-powered chatbot called Support Virtual Agent.

It's available now to US-based Xbox Insiders, before a wider release is planned at a later date.

According to Megha Dudani, senior product manager at Microsoft Gaming, this new feature is designed to “help Xbox players resolve game support issues more efficiently.”

It can “quickly access information from support.xbox.com to answer questions relevant to Xbox console and game support issues,” he said on Xbox Wire.

As previously reported, players can ask questions to the chatbot via text or voice. If unable to resolve the issue, players can request to chat with a live support agent if it is within normal Xbox support business hours.

The Xbox Insider program allows players to provide feedback on the latest Xbox system updates, as well as features and games in development, on Windows 10/11 consoles and devices.

Players interested in signing up for the program will need to download the Xbox Insider Hub for console or PC.

Last November, Xbox announced a multi-year deal with Inworld to build AI dialogue and narrative tools at scale.

Inworld made headlines last summer after a Grand Theft Auto 5 mod let players talk to NPCs using its generative AI platform.
