A group of League of Legends fans were allegedly left without tickets to this weekend's League of Legends World Championship in London, after their box was given to the band Linkin Park hours before the show.
The event, which took place from London's O2 arena this weekend, saw thousands of fans flock from all over the world to watch the world's best League of Legends players compete for the top prize. Simultaneously, the band Linkin Park performed at the event.
However, one fan group said they had to scramble for tickets after learning 90 minutes before the event started that the box, which the group had paid for, had been returned, and instead, they claimed, was given to Linkin Park. No replacement or alternative tickets were offered, they said.
“Today, I was supposed to sit in the Vip box with @G2League to watch the world live,” wrote @SloppyWarlus on X.
“But unfortunately it was canceled and returned at the last minute (1.5 hours before the opening ceremony)
“Turns out @linkinpark ordered our VIP box right at the last minute💀. So the venue took us off the list because it was Linkin Park. That in itself was annoying for us because we had already traveled and planned everything.
“But the worst part is that we didn't even get a replacement seat. Our access to the arena was just removed and restored.”
VGC has reached out to Riot and O2 for comment on this matter and will update the story if we receive it.
Fans affected by this issue were quick to point out that it may not have been Linkin Park's fault, but due to the band's fame, event organizers likely decided that the band would take priority over fans who had previously reserved seats.
